i came to think of the fact that i've always been afraight to fail and this made living freely very difficult.
since i stopped going to meetings and especially since i admitted to myself that i'm no longer a 'true believer' i feel i can make mistakes and learn from them.
i feel more 'alive' because of that.
I have to say this topic strikes a cord with me, I have certainly found being immature in making choices has had its difficulties, it feels like your going through your teens and 20's again. The great thing is that without the guilt you can make mistakes and learn from them. It also helps your self confidence to grow again as you see the rewards of experience.

I have yet to see any proof that they are right on any of these points, for instance the date of 1914 how do you get to that date? Oh yes its by adding to Daniels account and counting back from 1914 to 607. Babylon the Great has fallen you say? Funny how its still growing with new supporters - take Muslims for example. 144000 go to heaven? Have any contacted you from that realm?

well... the 'fortune cookie' thread got me to thinking about all of the silly things that my mom (and the jws) did when i was growing up.. it has been a while, and so i know that i won't be able to remember all of them.. my mom refused to buy a soft drink named 'sprite' - as its' logo included a small impish-looking fella (a sprite) that wore a bottlecap for a hat.
she claimed it was deemunz.. my mom hesitated to buy fried chicken at a place named 'church's fried chicken', as she wasn't sure if the name meant 'religion', or was a person's last name.. my mom refused to shop at salvation army - cause it would be supporting another religion.. the folks at the local kingdom hall came down hard on my mom cause one of my sisters wore a cute little 'sailor's dress'... it had boat anchors, and other 'sailor' emblems on the buttons, that were considered 'militaristic' by the powers-that-be at the local kh.
(i'm not sure if my mom put on different buttons, or scrapped the dress entirely.

here's a question: what has most surprised you about your life after leaving the organization?
That people were not all evil and doing wrong.
That the Witnesses were one of countless other religions (opinions) who all think they are the right one.
That unconditional love can be found.
My outlook on life changed from waiting for the end, to making this life count.
That my fear and guilt were something placed in my mind by high control methods, and faded once I stopped listening to the propagander.
That life can be fun.
I have a mind that I can use to decide things.

i'm tired of putting on a happy face for all the drones.
i'm sure everyone that's been a part of the borganization can relate to this.
i had what would have been a great weekend were i still oblivious to the truth about the truth.
I too can't imagine what it would be like to live in a place you no longer belong or even want to be, but only you can be the one to make the move. I wish i could say the sooner you do it the sooner you will be moving on in your life, and this life is all we have so dont waste another day etc...But only you know when you are ready, its not for me to say what you should do, and i can certainly empathise with you.
I think like most of us the need to leave will become stronger than the need to stay. I also think the advice to prepare your way, with new friends and so on is excellent, how different things could have been for many of us if we had of made such preparations. I would have to say though despite the pain of losing everything you knew and having to rebuild, there is so much satisfaction from leaving the WTS, and I garantee you'll be saying to yourself 'I wish i'd done this earlier'

(if anything i write below is horrible offensive to anyone, please do me a favor and just ignore this post and dont tell me what rotten person i am and im going to hell or some such thing)
over the last few years ive had to change a great many views that ive previously been very emphatic about.
there are a number of things that are currently running through my head, the short list looks like this.
I think its easy to forget how it makes you feel (ie. guilty and wrong) when you are put in that situation again. So now is the time to set your own boundaries over it, before the 'moment' comes again and you lose the will to do what you know is the right thing. Obviously you have crossed a line, and I for one think once its crossed its next to impossible to put the line back again.
My own advice is to cool it right off and have some time to let the feelings die down, only then may you be able to be friendly and not put yourself in a risky position again. Really though if you like somebody of the opposite sex, despite the fact that they are unavailable, your natural impulses will compel you to be with her. So maybe your only option will be to let her go and make another (available) friend - think about how cool that would be, someone you could really have a relationship with, and no guilt.

a fantastic episode of dr who was on last night.. the doctor is having to get rid of the cybermen who are taking over the earth in a parallel universe.
their creator is, in his mind fighting disease, imperfection, death, by taking out people's brains, putting them into metal bodies that can never decay, and over riding their emotions.. the doctor asks the creator of the cybermen what point there will be in living and existing, if it was not for suffering and pain and death.
there would be nothing to strive for, nothing to overcome.
I have to agree one of my favorite 'Tennant' episodes. I hadn't linked it to the WTBS, maybe that shows how far I have come from that loony asylum? Good ending for Micky too! And as far as fancying Mr Tennant, no certainly not! But i would agree he is a good looking bloke with cool clothes.
